Sexy Frolic in Parliament : Dutch Official’s Photos Give New Meaning to ‘Liberal Party’

The Dutch Liberal Party was embarrassed today by photographs in the national edition of Playboy magazine showing a senior party official frolicking nude with a woman.

One picture showed 37-year-old Arnoud Cevaal, who is a parliamentary candidate as well as a party administrative secretary, sliding his hand up the woman’s skirt in an otherwise empty Parliament chamber.

A spokeswoman for the Liberals, junior partners in the ruling center-right coalition, said Cevaal had been off work since November because of illness. She declined further comment.

Parliament Speaker Dirk Dolman wrote to Liberal leader Ed Nijpels reminding him of restrictions on photography in the chamber and demanding an explanation.

The picture in the chamber showed Cevaal fully clothed, but in other shots he was seen naked on a bed and in a shower with the woman. She was identified as the 30-year-old secretary of a Liberal parliamentarian.

Playboy quoted Cevaal as saying, “I want to try to give politics a little whiff of romance.”
