Pasadena : Centennial Song Contest
Pasadena’s Centennial Committee and KABC radio are sponsoring a songwriting competition to find a suitable tune for Pasadena’s 100th birthday. KABC’s morning disc jockeys, the Ken and Bob Company, will select 10 entries as finalists and play them on the radio.
The winner will receive a trip to Pasadena, Tex., where the tune will be played at Gilley’s nightclub, home of the mechanical bull that bucked Debra Winger to stardom in the motion picture “Urban Cowboy.”
Entries must be recorded on cassettes and accompanied by typewritten lyrics. They should be sent to Pasadena Centennial Song Contest, KABC Radio, 3321 S. La Cienega Blvd., Los Angeles 90016. The winner will be announced June 21.
