The nation’s largest display of cherry blossoms should hit its pink and white peak on April 3 or 4 and remain in bloom through the annual Cherry Blossom Festival, a National Park Service scientist said Wednesday.

The festival, scheduled for April 6-12, will mark the 74th anniversary of Japan’s gift of 3,000 trees to the nation. The celebration includes a parade and the selection of a Cherry Blossom queen from contestants from the 50 states.
