The South Korean government on Wednesday suggested new dates for trade, parliamentary and Red Cross talks with North Korea that have been suspended because of U.S.-South Korean military excercises that are to end Monday.

South Korean delegates to the talks telephoned their northern counterparts proposing that the Red Cross talks be resumed on May 27, trade talks on April 30 and parliamentary discussions on May 14, a government spokesman said.

The talks, scheduled for January and February, were called off after North Korea denounced the war games involving more than 200,000 U.S. and South Korean troops as a military threat.
