Sheriff’s Department detectives Wednesday arrested two men suspected of being members of a bookmaking ring, a spokesman said.
Stanley Gerald Kaminski, 46, of Poway, owner of the Poway Mining Co., and Charles William Bacon, 46, of San Diego, owner of the Square Deal Pest Control Co. in Poway, were arrested about 1 p.m. at their businesses by the vice detail, Sheriff’s Lt. Dennis Runyon said.
Both men were taken to the County Jail in downtown San Diego.
Kaminski was charged with seven counts of violating the gambling laws, four of them for pool selling on the Super Bowl, Runyon said. Bacon was charged with two counts of violating gambling laws, Runyon said. The bets allegedly were laid at the Mining Company and dropped off at a Glendale location.
Detectives confiscated $20,000 in cash and other evidence, Runyon said.
