Moscow — Twelve Muscovites have begun a weeklong hunger strike to protest the detention of three members of the only known independent Soviet peace group, according to one of the fasters.
Alexander Rubchenko, a member of the Group for Establishing Trust Between the U.S.S.R. and the U.S.A., told the Associated Press that he and 11 other people began the weeklong fast last week to protest the detention of two members in jail and a third in a psychiatric hospital.
