Time Running Out in Pollution Fight, Europe Panel Says
Nations are running out of time to cooperate in the battle against global pollution, the chairman of the Council of Environment Ministers of the European Community says.
“We can make perfect plastic trees . . . like in Disneyland. . . . is that the kind of world we want to have around us?” asked Pieter Winsemius, the Netherlands’ environment minister.
In a telephone interview from Ottawa during a tour of Canada and the United States, Winsemius said last week he is trying to encourage international cooperation on major environmental issues.
