Share

A former Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy, who fixed two court cases involving friends, was sentenced to two years’ probation, fined $300 and ordered to perform 300 hours of community service. Municipal Judge Rose Hom ordered Kenneth Redwine, 49, a 17-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Department, to pay the fine within 10 days or serve 10 days in jail. Hom also ordered that the community service be completed by Sept. 30. Redwine pleaded guilty Feb. 13 to the single misdemeanor count. In return, prosecutors agreed to the dismissal of two other misdemeanor charges. Deputy Dist. Atty. Larry Mason said Redwine had faced a maximum $1,000 fine and one year in County Jail. The complaint filed against Redwine on Feb. 4 charged him with providing prosecutors with incorrect information about a female suspect he had been dating, and submitting false investigative reports about a friend who allegedly beat up an employee.
