Outages in Northridge Disrupt Service to 1,600
An estimated 1,600 Department of Water and Power customers in Northridge were left without electricity Tuesday evening after two underground cables malfunctioned, a DWP spokesman said.
The first outage, affecting 800 customers, occurred about 5:15 p.m. and the second was reported about two hours later, spokesman Walter Zeisl said.
Electricity was returned to 600 customers by 9 p.m., and the department was working through the evening to complete repairs, Zeisl said. The cause of the malfunctions was not known, he said.
