U.S. Renewal of Nuclear Tests

Share

In the name of all the people of this country, the children of the world and all people who care deeply about the survival of our planet, why on earth did the United States detonate a nuclear blast in Nevada?

In the light of the Soviet Union’s self-imposed moratorium on nuclear testing and their asking the United States to do the same, why didn’t the U.S.A. reciprocate in good faith, and place a moratorium on its own underground nuclear testing? This seems to me to be a natural, sensible and very concrete step in beginning a nuclear arms reduction process.

In an attempt to understand our government’s reluctance to take this first step, I’m getting in touch with some formidable obstacles in creating real world peace. It saddens, angers and finally frightens me to consider the possibility that certain people in this country do not really want to end the arms race, in spite of what they say.
