The Great Peace March for nuclear disarmament halted--again--in the desert, but organizers insisted it was just a day of rest. About 350 marchers made camp at the intersection of Powerline and Cima roads, 30 miles northeast of Baker, 20 miles west of the Nevada border. “We’ll march tomorrow,” said march spokesman Ben Zeman, who denied reports that the trek had stalled due to “internal strife” or because the marchers could not find transportation for their equipment. The group had been averaging about 12 miles a day. In addition to the need for rest, Zeman said, the marchers stopped so their legal representative could “firm up” places where they planned to stay before reaching Las Vegas.
