The leadership of Lions Clubs International, the world’s largest men’s service organization, plans to ask its members to approve the admission of women, officials said Friday.

“We have a definite obligation to provide an effective, satisfying outlet for women who have meant so much to our service efforts over the years,” Lions’ World President Joseph Wroblewski said.

“Unlike our smaller brother service organizations, Rotary and Kiwanis, we recognize the considerable contributions women can make to our association’s efforts,” Wroblewski said in a statement.
