Marantz, a home electronics company in Chatsworth, reported sales for its first quarter ended March 31 were $16.8 million, up 127% over the same quarter a year ago. The company’s sales in March were $7.4 million, up 147% from the same month last year.
William Morris, the company’s chief financial officer, attributed the stronger sales to Marantz’s new products, including a line of videocassette recorders.
Marantz said many of its dealers are also shareholders and that it disclosed the information before its quarterly report to give all shareholders equal information.
