Detectives on Saturday were investigating the death of Rickie Ann Blake, a 14-year-old girl whose body was found on a freeway off-ramp in San Diego several hours after she was reported missing from her home under mysterious circumstances.

The junior high school student was last seen alive by her sister shortly before midnight Thursday in the living room of the family’s Chula Vista home, located in the 1500 block of Oleander Avenue.

The girl’s mother called police early Friday to tell them she found the front door open, the television set and living room lights on and her daughter missing. The girl’s shoes, make-up kit and purse were on the floor.

About 10:10 p.m. Friday, San Diego police were called by a motorist who reported a body lying on the Main Street off-ramp to southbound Interstate 15, about six miles from the girl’s home. The body was clothed in the black pants and pink sweat shirt the girl was wearing the night before.

Homicide investigators said the girl had been killed elsewhere several hours before she was dumped on the off-ramp.

An autopsy was conducted Saturday, but a spokesman for the coroner’s office said that although there were some bruises on Blake’s face and neck, the results were inconclusive. The cause of death won’t be determined until toxicology and microscopy tests are completed.
