Bomb Scare Turns Up More Familiar Hazard
A police robot sent to uncover a bomb in a suspicious baby stroller abandoned Sunday near the United Nations got a box of dirty diapers instead.
The bomb scare was phoned in by a police officer who spotted the carriage outside the U.S. mission to the United Nations.
The robot, equipped with X-ray equipment, took a picture of the stroller and a suspicious box.
“It turned out to be a carriage with a box of dirty diapers,” said Sgt. William McCabe, after the robot had opened the box. “They’re just taking all precautions because of the sensitivity of the location.”
