Moscow Seeks China Summit

MOSCOW —
The Soviet Union today proposed a summit meeting between Kremlin leader Mikhail S. Gorbachev and Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping as a way to improve relations between the two communist countries.
The official press agency Tass said the idea was raised during talks in Moscow between Soviet Foreign Minister Eduard A. Shevardnadze and Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Qian Qichen. The Chinese response was not given.
