Building-Limits Initiative

Share

I am writing to object to labor leader William Robertson’s claim that only the affluent Westside would support the proposed initiative to limit commercial building size and traffic in Los Angeles. Since when has traffic, noise and overbuilding been limited to any one part of Los Angeles? While developers are certainly more active in certain areas, there are citywide traffic impacts from the virtually unlimited growth policies long practiced in Los Angeles.

Robertson must have forgotten that the reputation of this city was built upon the life style of its quiet single-family neighborhoods, not its high-rises. And if we are to protect that life style for ourselves and our children we cannot sell this city to the developers and the building industry for which he speaks.
