A 32-year-old Tijuana woman was raped Friday by a San Diego man who offered her a ride to San Ysidro, according to police. A suspect, Cesar Ruiz Scolari, 32, was arrested and taken to County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bail. The district attorney’s office charged him with one count of rape by force, one count of oral sex by force, one count of sex with a foreign object and one count of sodomy, a jail spokeswoman said.

The woman, who holds a permit to work in the United States, was waiting at a Tijuana bus stop at about 7 a.m. when she accepted a ride offered by Scolari, police spokesman Bill Robinson said.

Scolari crossed into San Ysidro, where he took her to an open field in the 1800 block of Monument Road and then raped her several times, Robinson said. The woman later managed to flag down a Border Patrol agent, who apprehended Scolari and turned him over to police, he said. The woman was treated at Mercy Hospital and released.
