Local News in Brief : 16-Year-Old Boy Slain in Sylmar Is Identified
A 16-year-old youth who was shot and killed on a Sylmar street early Wednesday has been identified as Jesus Gonzales Jr. of Sylmar, the Los Angeles County coroner’s office said.
An autopsy completed Thursday determined that the teen-ager died of multiple gunshot wounds, according to coroner’s spokesman Bill Gold.
Police gang experts have been investigating the slaying as well as the wounding of Gonzales’ unidentified 20-year-old companion near a Sylmar bar about 1 a.m. Wednesday.
“We have, as of today, a half-dozen different stories as to where it occurred, as to what happened, as to the descriptions of the suspects,” Los Angeles Police Lt. Bob Stemples said. “We have to go through each one, trying to figure out what really happened.”
