Hyundai Motor America said it will raise prices on its five-door and four-door models an average of 2.9%, giving the five-door model a base price of $5,195 while the four-door GL model will begin at $6,245.

At the same time, the Garden Grove-based importer of the Korean automobiles said it will introduce a three-door hatchback version of its Excel subcompact. The new entry, to go on sale May 20, will have a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $4,995. The Excel already is available as a five-door hatchback and a four-door sedan.
