The Secretary General of the Seoul Olympic Organizing Committee again rejected North Korea as a co-host of the 1988 Summer Games and promised that the competition will be run “under the safest conditions ever.”

Dr. Lee Ha-woo said at the general assembly of the Assn. of National Olympic Committees that the North Korean plan to share the host role “is contrary to the IOC’s position and the position of National Olympic Committees around the world.”

Although South Korea objects to being a co-host, it has hinted that it might be willing to schedule some Olympic events in the North.
