Included in the purchase price are a two-story building, two parking lots and about a quarter of an acre of roadway. the building houses part of the city Public Works Department. It will continue to be used for city offices and community meetings, said Ann Negendank, acting director of environmental services.

The property had been owned by the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District, which had allowed the city to use it since 1975, Negendank said. The district returned the property to the federal government in 1985 and the city leased it.
