61 Arrested in 2-Day Prostitution Sweep
Responding to complaints from East San Diego business owners, the San Diego Police Department ended a special two-day operation Saturday aimed at putting a dent in the prostitution business along El Cajon Boulevard.
Police spokesman Bill Robinson said that as of late Saturday, 61 people had been arrested since Friday night, when police moved in, using four female officers as decoys. All but six of those arrested were men. They were charged with soliciting for the purpose of prostitution. The other six were women, who were charged with prostitution.
Dubbed Operation John, the special effort was run out of the parking lot of Goodbody’s Boulevard Chapel, a mortuary at 5027 El Cajon Blvd., Robinson said.
