Series of Rapes Follows Pattern

A frightening similarity existed among the crimes. Women living alone--most of them elderly--were attacked and raped late at night. The attacker frequently burglarized their homes.
Police in Anaheim, Fullerton, Santa Ana and Claremont said last week that as many of 22 of the crimes may be the work of the same man during the past 10 months.
“If we compare the method of entry, time period and the description we have from the other incidents, there’s a strong possibility that the same person is responsible,” Anaheim Police Lt. Bill Wright said. Twelve of the crimes have taken place in Anaheim since Dec. 12.
Police in the other cities said the similarity of the crimes there have prompted them to work closely with authorities in Anaheim in trying to pinpoint the rapist-burglar.
