Hotel’s Weekend Rates

Filling hotel rooms with guests over weekends can be a formidable marketing task, which accounts for the variety of discounts set out as lures.

One discount is offered by Westin Hotels & Resorts at 27 properties in the continental United States and six hotels in Canada.

Weekend Nights

You can get 50% off regular rates at any of these properties on weekend nights--Friday, Saturday and Sunday--through Dec. 31. Like most discounts, the offer is on a controlled-capacity, space-available basis, which means that a limited number of rooms are being used for the program. The number of available rooms can vary from hotel to hotel, and from weekend to weekend. You can’t use this discount with any other group, package or promotional rate.

Reservations are required, although the reservation can be made on the same day as your arrival. However, given the availability of rooms, getting your reservation in early is advisable. Ask for the discount, the “Westin Weekend,” when you make your reservation.

This offer is good for single or double occupancy per room. Under Westin’s family plan, children 18 or younger can stay free with a parent/guardian. And there is no extra charge for extra beds. Additional people in the room, age 19 or older, would be subject to an extra charge of $15 or more, depending on the individual hotel.

Deposit is not required, except at some resort properties. Your room reservation will be on a confirmed basis, with a confirmation slip mailed to you if time permits. Otherwise, get the confirmation number over the phone. Your confirmation slip should indicate the discounted, not the regular rate.

Rooms and Suites

Since hotels have different categories of rooms, determine what kind of room you are getting and where it is in the hotel. The 50% discount applies to all categories of rooms or suites.

You have to arrive by 6 p.m. to get your discounted room. Or guarantee your room through most credit cards or by sending in one night’s deposit.

Westin has hotels in Seattle, Chicago, New York, Atlanta, Boston, New Orleans, Salt Lake City, Phoenix, etc. Canadian locations include Toronto, Vancouver, Ottawa, Calgary, Edmonton and Winnipeg.
