Excellent Good Fair Poor : COMPACT DISCS

Compiled by Terry Atkinson

"Moondance." Van Morrison. Warner Bros. Morrison's "Astral Weeks" is so respected that rock critics and Morrison cultists all but genuflect at the mention of that 1968 album. This 1970 follow-up was almost on a par--and it offered the bonus of transferring the Irish-born singer's highly personal, even mystical tales of romantic and spiritual salvation to a more accessible framework. The crisp CD sound showcases expertly the blues- and jazz-flavored rock tunes, from the rejoicing of "Come Running" to the grace of "These Dreams of You." 1/2
