“Moondance.” Van Morrison. Warner Bros. Morrison’s “Astral Weeks” is so respected that rock critics and Morrison cultists all but genuflect at the mention of that 1968 album. This 1970 follow-up was almost on a par--and it offered the bonus of transferring the Irish-born singer’s highly personal, even mystical tales of romantic and spiritual salvation to a more accessible framework. The crisp CD sound showcases expertly the blues- and jazz-flavored rock tunes, from the rejoicing of “Come Running” to the grace of “These Dreams of You.” 1/2
