Gunmen Slay Four in Execution Style; Drug Tie-in Alleged
Two gunmen burst into a housing project apartment early Wednesday and killed four young men--three as they slept--in execution-style slayings tied to the potent cocaine derivative “crack,” police said.
The men, armed with 9-millimeter handguns, shot each of the victims at least once in the head and wounded a fifth man in the shoulder. They left unharmed three young women, a 14-year-old wheelchair-bound child and a 2-year-old boy, police said.
“Drugs are involved,” Lt. Vernon Geberth of the Bronx detective squad said. “A little bit of crack was found on some of the victims.”
No suspects were captured and police said they had no strong leads.
