Paramount may be making Mario Puzo an offer he can’t refuse: A high-ranking studio source confirmed that Puzo is all but signed to take another shot at writing “Godfather III.” (Puzo did a treatment in 1978 that never developed.) Our source also added that the studio has been in discussion with Russian director Andrei Konchalovsky (“Runaway Train”). That’s now on hold until the studio sees Puzo’s script, but, according to the exec, “Anything is possible in the ‘Godfather III’ sweepstakes.”
