Week in Review : EVENTS, IMAGES AND PEOPLE IN THE NEWS : CRIME : Search to Go On for Bradbury Girl

The FBI laboratory in Virginia came up empty last week after trying to determine whether a skull fragment found last month at Joshua Tree National Monument is that of Laura Bradbury.

The fragment was thought to be from the skull of the Huntington Beach girl, missing since October, 1984, because experts had identified it as that of a child between the ages of 2 and 5 who had been dead about 18 months.

But no one has been able to narrow the child’s age range or determine blood type or sex.

“Our feeling is that since no other bones or articles of clothing were found, it’s hard for us to believe that it’s Laura,” said Patty Bradbury, the child’s mother.

She added that her family and numerous volunteers will continue their well-publicized search for Laura.
