‘LEGEND’ IN ITS TIME

Share

Well, Universal seems to have done it again.

After spending $30 million on “Legend,” they proceeded to cut it by at least a half-hour from the European version. Then they removed a brilliant score by Jerry Goldsmith and replaced it with a mediocre one by Tangerine Dream. Thye evidently thought the film was then simplistic enough to appeal to the movie-going public.

Lo and behold, after two weeks of good business against weak competition, this week “Legend” began its downward spiral towards box-office oblivion.

The lesson to be learned from this sad story is obvious: if you have enough faith in a film maker and trust his vision, then leave him alone and don’t underestimate the intelligence of the audience.
