Authorities ordered an indefinite curfew on Saturday in parts of Karachi, Pakistan’s largest city, as gunfights erupted between two groups, wounding at least five.

The curfew was imposed after daylong clashes between groups of Pushtuns and Urdu-speaking settlers from India during which police used tear gas to break up the crowds.

The fighting broke out following a bus accident in which a boy was killed.

Army troops moved into western Karachi to enforce the curfew which was to be in effect for an indefinite period, witnesses said.
