Share

July is the expected construction start time of the Ritz-Carlton Mirada hotel in Rancho Mirage, with grading under way now for the $100-million, 250-room desert resort that will have 228,515 square feet under roof on a 465-acre site.

The hotel will be reached by an extension of Frank Sinatra Drive from California 111 through a landscaped entry road with stone walls, palms and flowers. A curving, palm-lined driveway will lead to the motor court, entry fountain and porte cochere, where cars will be valet-parked in a three-level underground garage.

Public areas will include a lobby accented with marble, Oriental rugs and antiques. The dining room will serve international cuisine and the wood-paneled bar will have the atmosphere of a club.

The ballroom, meeting rooms and board rooms will overlook the gardens, terraces and pool courts. The tennis center, reached by a bridge across Frank Sinatra Drive, will have a clubhouse and 15 courts.

Each guest room will have a refrigerator and honor bar and either a king-sized bed or two double beds. There will be 18 suites.

The architect is Ronald J. Holecek of Wimberly, Whisenand, Allison, Tong & Goo and the developer is Federated Development Co./Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co.
