Home Buyers, Sellers Will Get a Bonus When Moving

Moving companies and real estate brokers go together like bagels and cream cheese, so it’s no surprise that Allied Van Lines has announced a program that will allow homeowners selling or buying a house to earn some extra cash.

Developed in conjunction with Direct Relocation Service Corp., a national real estate referral network, Chicago-based Allied’s M.O.R.E. (Money On Relocation Expense) program grants the customer up to $100 for every $10,000 increment on the sale price of the old home, new home or both, according to Larry Stein of Allied.

Under the program, people considering the sale or purchase of a house would call Allied first--a reversal of the traditional relocation process. A counselor would then meet with the potential buyer and refers him to Direct Relocation Service.

For example, a homeowner moving with Allied and selling his house for $80,000 (a fairly typical Midwestern price) through a Direct Relocation Service broker could earn $800 under the plan. If he or she purchases a new home through the same broker for $100,000, the homeowner could earn another $1,000, Stein said.
