The Sacramento Symphony Assn. has announced cancellation of its 1986-87 season after talks with the musicians union broke down. Oleta Lambert, president of the association, said union negotiators rejected a three-year contract offer and refused to submit it to the full orchestra for a vote. Lambert said the offer would have provided full-time musicians a pay increase of more than 59% over the 1984-85 base, resulting in a minimum salary of $18,037 a year in the third year. Of the more than 80 orchestra players, only 38 are full time. Shop steward Donald Glattly of the American Federation of Musicians said the proposal would give part-time players a raise of just $180 a year. He said the musicians want to expand the orchestra to 45 full-time members, but management wants it to grow by one a year for three years.
