Tremulous Takes Hollypark Feature With a Fast Finish
Tremulous lagged behind the early leaders but rallied in the upper stretch and pulled away in the final furlong Wednesday to win the $32,000 feature race on the turf at Hollywood Park.
Ridden by Fernando Toro, Tremulous finished 2 3/4 lengths in front of Only, with Bill Shoemaker in the saddle. Sweet Drop, with Darrel McHargue aboard, finished third, another two lengths back in the 1 1/8-mile race for fillies and mares.
Tremulous ran the 1 1/8 miles in 1:46 4/5 and paid $9.60, $4.60 and $4.80. Only returned $3.60 and $3.40, and Sweet Drop paid $8 to show.
Laffit Pincay rode three winners--Roger’s Secretary in the first race, Dodo’s Land in the second and Raise A Prospector in the fourth.
