The Region : End to Bar Strike in Sight

Share

Striking attorneys for the State Bar of California are expected to return to their jobs by Wednesday after both sides agreed to submit their wage dispute to binding arbitration. The attorneys walked out April 25. A Los Angeles-based spokeswoman for the 33 strikers, Marilyn Alper, said she was confident that their demand for higher pay within set scales would be approved by the panel. The attorneys, who prosecute lawyer discipline cases in San Francisco and Los Angeles, now earn between $2,700 and $4,800 a month. They are expected to ratify the agreement today, Alper said, and the Board of Governors is scheduled to vote Tuesday.
