‘Bandit’ Slain in Border Canyon
Members of the Border Crimes Task Force shot and killed “a border bandit” about 10:10 p.m. Monday night near Brown Field, a San Diego Police Department spokesman said.
The shooting occurred in an area called Rock Canyon near Tree Line Road and Otay Mesa Road.
Officer Craig Katcher said no one else was injured. Police Department homicide investigators were on the scene late Monday night.
The victim’s name was not available.
Katcher said he did not know if there were other suspects involved or what provoked the shooting.
The Border Crimes Task Force is made up of San Diego police officers and U.S. Border Patrol agents.
