The U.S. Naval Academy, ending a year that saw students leave over drug use and sexual misconduct, commissioned 1,012 midshipmen as officers Wednesday.

In December, five midshipmen--four males and a female--were dismissed from the academy after being found guilty of sexual misconduct in a dormitory room. Another midshipman admitted using cocaine and left the academy.
