S. Africa Troops Kill 56 Rebels

WINDHOEK, South-West Africa —
South African-led troops shot and killed 56 insurgents who ambushed them in South-West Africa, the military said today.
Maj. Gen. George Meiring, commander of the South-West Africa Territory Force, said the clash occurred Wednesday in the far north of the South African-ruled territory, during a follow-up operation. He said his forces lost one man in the battle.
