Crystal Cathedral Presenting ‘Prime Time’ Retirees’ Conference

“Prime Time: A Possibility Thinkers Conference for Retired Persons or Those Anticipating Retirement” is being presented at the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove through Friday.

Featured speakers include TV personality Art Linkletter; Los Angeles Dodgers Manager Tommy Lasorda; Doris Winkler, Channel 7 “Eyewitness News” senior correspondent; Dr. Kenneth and Millie Cooper, leaders of the international physical fitness movement; M. Neel Buell, an authority on life style for retired persons; Dr. Cory SerVaas, and psychologist Dave Stoop.

Special music guests will be Norma Zimmer, Thurl Ravenscroft and Tom Tipton.

The three-day conference, which began Wednesday, includes workshops covering a variety of subjects relevant to older citizens. Among the subjects being discussed are “Sexuality and Seniors,” “Relating to Your Grown Children,” “How to Handle Loneliness,” “Financial Planning,” “How to Keep Your Spiritual Life Refreshed,” “Nutrition and Exercise” and “Handling Grief.”

On Wednesday, the keynote speaker was James Roosevelt, who discussed the future of the Social Security system.

Other activities include a fashion show, banquet and an All Gospel Concert at 8 p.m. Friday with the Crystal Cathedral Symphony Orchestra and soloists Michele Pillar and Michael Hamilton.

A $65 admission covers tonight’s banquet with guest speaker Art Linkletter and all sessions Friday, when the Coopers, Lasorda and vocalist Zimmer will be featured. Other options include Friday only for $45 and tonight’s banquet for $25.
