Bank of America created a problem-loan unit.

The new division is being set up to deal with about $1 billion in non-performing agriculture, real estate, consumer and small-business loans. Bad loans in these areas contributed to the bank’s $337-million loss in 1985. B of A is looking outside the bank for an executive to oversee the unit.
