Eleven San Diego State track and field athletes tested for steroids were cleared to take part in the NCAA championships June 4-5 at Indianapolis. The results of a second round of drug tests were delivered to San Diego State from a laboratory at UCLA.
The entire men’s and women’s teams were ordered to submit urine samples in March for drug testing after assistant coach Kent Pagel and two students were suspended amid charges they were involved in the use of steroids, which are drugs used to build strength but are illegal under NCAA rules.
