UC Irvine Players Win in Adoption Guild Tennis

Bruce Man Son Hing and Darren Yates of UC Irvine won their match Monday in the 25th annual Adoption Guild Doubles Tennis Tournament to advance to the semifinal round Saturday at the Newport Beach Tennis Club. The Irvine team beat Tom City of Industry and Dan Hansen of Laguna Niguel, 6-4, 6-2, to advance in the men’s championship division.

Finals will be held Sunday. The tournament is played to benefit the Holy Family Services of Orange County.

Also in the championship division, Ross Case of Australia and Mike Briggs of Newport Beach beat Scott Carnahan of Laguna Beach and Bernie Mitton of South Africa, 6-4, 6-2.

The other quarterfinal winners in the championship division were Chris Dunk of Tustin and Robert Van’t Hof of Irvine, and Syd Ball of Australia and Dan Turbow of Tustin.
