Wichita, Kan.-based Cessna Aircraft said it was laying off about 900 workers, or 16% of its work force, and suspending piston-engine airplane production for more than a year . . . Vons Cos. is the new name of HMI Holdings, which was formed in January after a leveraged buyout of the Household Merchandising division of Household International; the newly named company’s primary division is Vons Grocery Co. . . .
