The stock market closed out an erratic session with a small loss today, backing away from Thursday’s record highs.
The Dow Jones average of 30 industrials closed down 5.64 at 1,876.71.
New York Stock Exchange volume was about 151.63 million shares compared with 135.67 million shares Thursday.
