The Nebraska Supreme Court on Friday reversed the perjury conviction of former Atty. Gen. Paul Douglas and ordered his case dismissed, ruling that he had been wrongly indicted and prosecuted.

The court said Douglas could not be indicted and prosecuted for allegedly lying under oath to a special legislative committee, which was investigating the failure of a Lincoln savings company, because state law does not require an oath in such circumstances.

A Lancaster County District Court jury convicted Douglas on Dec. 14, 1984.
