COMMENCEMENT 1986 : Cal State Fullerton

California State University, Fullerton, held its 27th annual commencement this weekend, the largest in its history, on the Performing Arts Center lawn. To accommodate the large number of graduates, the exercises were split by academic division into six ceremonies, with the first three held Saturday and the other three being held today.

Degrees: Candidates were eligible for 4,324 bachelor’s degrees and 876 master’s degrees.

Speakers: The following speakers were scheduled: Dean Thomas L. Brown, business administration and economics; Michael Weiss and Ann Gyben, humanities and social sciences; Richard J. Stegemeier, president of Unocal Corp., mathematics, science and engineering; playwright Jerome Lawrence, author of “Inherit the Wind” and “Auntie Mame,” arts; Sen. Marian Bergeson (R-Newport Beach), human development and community service.
