Press Group Criticizes Malaysia Bill on Media

LONDON —
The International Press Institute said Monday that a bill before the Malaysian Parliament would severely constrain press freedom.
In a message to Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohammed, the institute said, “The act is so vaguely worded that almost any printed or broadcast word can be interpreted as a breach of the law.” It urged his government to clarify the wording.
