A licensed polygraph administrator said that New England Patriot wide receiver Irving Fryar told the truth when he denied gambling on any National Football League games last season.

Eric Holden, president of Eric J. Holden and Associates of North Dallas, Tex., who gave Fryar a lie detector test, told The Boston Herald:

“After an extensive interview and development of the examination, it’s my opinion conclusively that he (Fryar) is truthful in his statements that since turning pro, he had never himself gambled or bet on any NFL football games or had ever allowed or let anyone use his name or his money to gamble on any NFL game.”

Fryar, who reportedly was under investigation by the league for alleged gambling, voluntarily took the 3 1/2-hour test, according to Sherwood Blount, Fryer’s Dallas-based agent who arranged for the lie detector test.

Blount said the results of the exam would be forwarded from Holden to Jim Drakeley, Fryer’s attorney, who will in turn send them to the NFL front office.

Holden, a licensed polygraph administrator since 1974, said he believes the results of Fryer’s examination had a 99% or better accuracy probability.
