MOVIE MALAISE

It is incorrect for Mathews to state “film consumers are content with a medium that has become almost exclusively entertainment.”
We are not content! It is just that film moguls are no longer interested in movies as an art form . . . only as a form of major income.
History will recount that the very success of the infantile films of George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and Sylvester Stallone literally destroyed the audience for intelligent films in the United States.
If only those gentlemen had been separated by a generation each, we would still have a market for mature films.
